Fire safety is and always will be a very important factor in any office or building. However, something else that has also become a priority in most offices worldwide is to have a fresh, modern design. We know how important it is for buildings and offices to keep up their image, and this is why glass fire screens are seen as the perfect addition, as they have the ability to combine both safety and style.
The popularity of glass office partitions has rocketed, because businesses have realised that they are the ideal way to both divide areas and create the illusion of more space. Full height glass partitioning systems maximise the amount of natural light in the area, creating a more bright and airy environment – resulting in the perfect workspace. Glass fire screens are essentially the same product as glass partitions, but with an added benefit; safety.
With the help of advanced fire glass technology, the systems look just as good as standard partitions, except they also comply with stringent building safety regulations. This means that any modern office or building can still maintain their up-to-date image whilst also maximising their safety.
Although it may not seem as though glass would be quite as effective as other fire safety methods, i.e. solid firewalls, the toughened fire-rated glass used is in fact incredibly effective at restricting the spread of flames, smoke and hot gas.
As with standard partitioning, glass fire screens can be custom designed to your requirements, with a choice of slim-line powder coated steel or stainless steel framework and extra details. When fitted with a thermally insulated steel frame, the glass can provide a performance of up to 120 minutes integrity and insulation. Alternatively, a silicone-jointed glass system means that framework is kept to a minimum, and gives up to 60 minutes integrity and insulation.
Fire doors are also an essential safety aspect of any building, and fire-rated glass doors are something to consider. They can blend perfectly within a fire-rated partitioning system for a clean, sleek finish, or look great on their own as a stand-alone exit point. Either way, glass fire doors do a brilliant job of being both practical yet aesthetically pleasing.
Of course, not all partitioning has to be chosen with fire safety being the number one priority, but this is a particularly important factor to consider when segregating escape routes and staircases in any building. Fire screens are a necessity for buildings where stringent building regulations are compulsory, i.e. schools and hospitals, and it goes without saying that glass fire screens are the perfect solution.
It’s clear to see why glass fire screens are a popular choice – as they manage to be highly effective in the safety department, whilst also blending in with any existing modern office designs, so not to be a hindrance on the overall ambience of an area.
After all, if fire safety doesn’t have to interrupt a contemporary design, and can instead enhance it – then why look elsewhere than at fire-rated glass screens and doors?
